Repairing Permissions:
This is something you can do that will fix many issues on the laptop or desktops in your room. You can do it proactively, or when you are having trouble.
Go to the application folder>utility folder> disk utility
Open the utility
Select (click once) on the hard drive of your machine in the left hand side bar.
In the bottom left of the big box on the screen, select repair permissions.
It will run and finish and then you can close out of the utility.
Besides a restart, this is your second in your line of repair attempts.
It would be ideal if you could run it proactively . If you have slowdowns, you’ll appreciate doing so.
Updates
Go to Apple>system prefs>updates
Set the option to check for updates- I’d suggest monthly. Some of these are fixes for little problems that begin to occur. It pays to be current. You can set it to run however you like, but do install updates – it’s an ongoing process that it pays to let the computer help
you do.
Battery Life
Apple recommends calibrating your battery every couple of months. (I do, too, as I can’t afford any new batteries!)
1. Fully charge the battery and then disconnect it from its power adapter
2. Keep the computer awake and running until the low battery warning appears. then keep it running until either it goes to sleep or shuts off. After it does so, wait FIVE more HOURS.
3. You can now recharge the battery as normal.
Dead Laptop? Hopefully Not
Obviously, if your laptop appears dead and you are not plugged in, you need to plug in and recharge the battery.
If you have power and still it appears dead,
1. Simultaneously hold down 1, and the power button. The computer may restart.
2. Force the laptop to shut down by holding in the power button for least ten seconds. Wait a minute, then resrart.
3. Still nothing? Reset the power management. SMC - system management controller.
a. remove the battery from the back
b. disconnect from the power adapter
c. hold the power button(on button) down for five seconds
d. put everything back and attempt to start up
If none of this works, it may need a hardware repair.

Making iWorks products compatible with MS products:
Keynote can be exported as a ppt file if you need it to be, or a PDF also.
This is true also for work you might do in Pages. Just Go to File>Export>chose what format you want to save it in
This is good to know if you are sharing with a PC user, like Kari or Scarlett or any office people.
If you put those things on the web, I would use PDF as everyone can then read your stuff.
